Cinema Summit was created by Alex Darke and Trevor L.Nelson, the co-founders of Gilded Cinema, to provide an outlet to share information and explore new techniques and skills.
Alex and Trevor are self-proclaimed filmmaking non-experts. Meaning, they practice their craft every day and do their best to find the latest, most streamlined and effective ways to do things. But, they don't claim to know everything. At all. They have been working in the industry for over 10 years, and hope they can pass along some useful information to those who are looking for it.
Alex Darke began working right after graduating from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. He was thrust into the world of theatrical distribution and international sales where he learned the ins and outs of what it takes to make money with a film. He quickly rose within that world to be the Executive Vice Presidient of Acquisitions at the independent theatrical distribution company 41 Inc. After spending some time there, he moved on to be a consultant in marketing, sales, acquisitions, and fulfillment for the international sales agency Highland Film Group.
In addition to this unique experience, Alex has produced numerous feature films and series, shot short films for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and series for Hulu, Playboy, Machinima, Studio 71, Ora TV, AwesomenessTV, go90, Maker Studios, and Pocket.Watch. He is on a constant quest for knowledge and continues to learn new skills every day.
Trevor L. Nelson graduated from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts a year ahead of Alex, but they new each other through various people and projects that they shared. Trevor started off working on educational and client videos, while producing feature and short films on the side, but quickly moved on to become the Lead Editor and Director of Politicking with Larry King. This experience has helped him land a wide gamut of video projects for various companies including: Ora TV, RT America, Hulu, Scout.com, Bank of America, AARP, Merrill-Lynch, many more.
Trevor, like Alex, has an unrelenting thirst for knowledge. He has had the opportunity to work on so many projects largely due to his expansive skills that he has acquired over the past 10 years - on the job and on his own time.
Together, they create narrative film and television series and hope that you can glean some valuable insight from their projects within the pages of Cinema Summit.
